First Grade Sunflowers

First graders learned a little bit about Vincent Van Gogh minus the ear information although some of them already knew about that unfortunate incident. They looked at his painting of sunflowers and created the most colorful and beautiful art of their own.

They started by drawing random circles on white paper. They used warm colors to paint the petals of the flower and used a small sponge attached to a clothes pin for the brown centers.

The background was painted in cool colors either with a brush or another small sponge.

Beautiful!
