Marker Cap Critters

I have a million dried up markers in the art room. Seems wasteful to just throw them away 

so I collected the lids and look what the second graders made using paper, glue and 

pipe cleaners - little finger puppets. How cute are these!

It's a Bugs Life

Second graders used Model Magic to create dimensional bugs. 

First they learned how to draw large blades of grass to look like one is in front and one is behind.

Then they used the colored clay to make their bugs.

They had fun mixing colors and creating a fanciful bug world. 

It's a bugs life!

Flood!

Horrible flood in Lisle with many of our families displaced.

Earth Day Prints

We used recycled newspapers and found objects to print a mandala for Earth Day.

First we used chalk to create a circular pattern of color on the newspapers. Quite messy. 

Then we used white paint and recycled objects (glue lids, plastic forks, popsicle sticks...) 

to print a repeat circular pattern.

The finished art is beautifully abstract. 

Clay Frogs

We used air dry clay to create clay frogs for the rain forest themed learning fair. 

After forming our clay frogs, we let them dry for a week then used tempera paint to paint them.

After painting, mod podge was used to create a shiny finish.
