Windy Hat Snowmen

First graders drew a scarf to begin their windy hat snowman. Then they added white paint, a flying away hat, buttons and a swirl of glitter.

It's windy out there!

Printed Poinsettias

Second graders created beautiful printed poinsettias before the holidays and here's how they did it. First they took soft chalk pastel and created an abstract colored background using the side of the chalk and then blended it with a tissue.

Next they used a brush and tempera paint to paint a few circles then used leaf shaped sponges to print their leaves here...

here...

and here.

Overlapping, good composition and many colors were used to complete these beautiful pieces.

Happy New Year!

Tate Woods students have art work displayed in the Lisle School District board room for the month of January. It's a great way for our board and the community to see what we do in the art room and to showcase student work.

First grade work - Color Explosions and Cardinals on a Snowy Branch

Second grade work - Frosty Snowflakes, Picasso Inspired Guitars and Printmaking.

To see all of the student work from these lessons, visit artsonia.com and enter Tate Woods in the school field.

Enjoy!
