Bas Relief Under the Sea

Second graders used colored tissue, watery glue, liquid water color paint and salt to create an under water world. The salt added and interesting salt water texture.

The following week they used Model Magic clay to create creatures of the sea. They had blue, red, yellow and white and used their knowledge of mixing to create original colors. Lots of creative thinking produced a wonderful result.

Birds on a Winter Birch Tree

First graders used grey chalk along the edges of white strips of paper to create a curved effect.

They added curved lines on both sides to create the bark texture of a birch tree.

They glued their trees to colored paper and drew branches.

Next the birds. They used simple shapes for all of the parts of the bird.

A winter bird!
